Recently crowned Miss United Continents 2022 , Camelle Mercado is the second Phillipines national to win the crown after Jeslyn Santos who won it in 2016. She beat twenty-four other contestants at the finale in Portoviejo, Ecuador in August 2022.

Joanna Camelle Mercado is 26 years old. She is a resort ambassador, who has a bachelor degree in Secondary Education and worked as a teacher.

This pageant started as Miss American Continent back in 2006. This year 2022 marks the 15th edition of the pageant. It was found by Maria del Carmen de Aguayo. It has grown since then to accommodate the whole world and renamed Miss United Continents. It became an international annual event in 2013.
