Dr. Binagwaho was born in 1950. Her family relocated to Belgium when she was three years old. She read Medicine Université libre de Bruxelles between 1976 and 1984. A Master’s degree in pediatrics from 1989-1993.

She was a co- founder and ex- Vice-chancellor of University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda. A private school founded in 2015. She is a member of Rockefeller board of trustees. A philanthropist of note.

Since 1996 after the civil war in her country to date, she has participated in every successful health initiative to make Rwanda a healthy society.
